Field & Floral Crew Member - Part-Time

Six Dutchess Farm is hiring a part-time Field & Floral Crew Member in LaGrangeville. Work with specialty flowers on a family-run farm where growing, harvesting, and preparing stems for customers are closely connected. Owners Jennifer Kouvant and Hans Li are first-generation farmers who transformed a former horse-boarding property into a diversified flower, fiber, and honey operation. What you will do • Prepare beds, plant, weed, fertilize, prune, irrigate, and harvest flowers. • Condition and pack stems; clean buckets, tools, and trays; help maintain written procedures. • Assist when needed with sheep fencing and moves, beekeeping equipment, events, or markets. How the work fits together The farm combines open fields, protected growing spaces, perennial plantings, and livestock. Sheep and chickens contribute to its fertility cycle, while an apiary and pollinator habitat support the wider landscape. Its plantings include edible trees and shrubs as well as flowers grown for cutting. The owners approach the property as an interconnected growing system, with attention to soil, animals, and seasonal change. This is an opportunity to participate in the practical work behind locally grown flowers rather than only arranging finished stems. The farm's wool and honey enterprises add another dimension to that setting, while flower production remains the crew's primary focus. What the employer is looking for • Be comfortable with repetitive physical work outdoors; farming experience is preferred, not essential. • Have a valid driver's license, your own vehicle and housing, and English proficiency; Spanish is helpful. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $20–$22 an hour, depending on experience, for about 20 hours across at least three days weekly. The summer season runs through September, with possible continuation. Benefits include a $250 annual education allowance, paid breaks and lunch, equipment, and flowers most weeks.
