Horticulture Instructor

Notice of VacancyHorticulture InstructorPosition: Instructor of Horticulture with responsibility for developing, coordinating, delivering, and supervising technical and related theory learning experiences for students pursuing a career in the horticulture industry. Instruction will be in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Educations Vocational Technical Education Framework for Horticulture. Additional responsibilities as needed including, but not limited to, updating curriculum. Classes are to be taught to students in grades 9-12 in a regional vocational technical high school.Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher degree related to subject matter and skills to be taught. (This would include at least 30 credits in subject matter related to horticulture.)At least three years of full-time employment experience directly related to the field of horticulture. (Note: a masters degree may substitute for one of the three years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter directly related to horticulture and/or in vocational education.)Possession of a current Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator licenseMust have excellent communication skills, both written and oralCompetency in computer applications, such as Google or Microsoft operating systemsCandidate must be willing to pursue licensure according to the requirements of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) within a prescribed time period OR possess a valid and appropriate DESE license.Compensation: The salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the approved Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School salary schedule.BENEFITS: Health, dental and vision insurance; paid family leave is available in addition to FMLA; Employees receive 15 paid sick days and 2 paid personal days each school year; College and University reimbursements is offered; the MTRS pension plan is available, along with 457(b) and 403 (b) retirement savings; Flex Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts are also offered.
