Agri Farm Technician

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is hiring a full-time Agri Farm Technician for Farm Operations at Pine Tree Station in Colt. This is a hands-on row-crop position responsible for daily field operations supporting the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station. What you will do • Plow, disk, level, and prepare land for research and production fields • Plant rice, soybeans, corn, grain sorghum, wheat, and cover crops • Irrigate, rogue, spray, and harvest crops as seasonal priorities require • Operate tractors, planters, harvest equipment, track hoes, backhoes, and road graders • Drive grain trucks and 42-foot hopper-bottom trailers to elevators and Foundation Seed destinations • Maintain farm equipment and assist with repairs and preventive upkeep • Help maintain the station shop, offices, houses, grounds, and related facilities • Work additional hours and weekends during planting, irrigation, and harvest periods Qualifications The minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent. One year of row-crop farming experience is preferred, as is demonstrated ability to operate a grain truck with a large hopper-bottom trailer. The station values reliable daily attendance and safe, careful equipment operation. The job regularly involves driving, reaching, climbing, grasping, kneeling, and stooping, with additional lifting and other physical work as needed. This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible staff position. Compensation is based on education and experience. A motor-vehicle-record check is required, and sponsorship is not available.
