Extension Learning & Development Specialist — Dairy Goats

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hiring a Learning and Development Specialist to create education around dairy-goat production and sustainability. The position supports a USDA Sustainable Agricultural Systems project and turns research into useful training for producers, veterinarians, veterinary students, high-school learners, and agricultural partners. Responsibilities • Develop integrated Extension and outreach programming focused on dairy-goat production and sustainable management • Create producer-oriented workshops, field days, webinars, podcasts, publications, videos, and training modules • Coordinate outreach strategy and content with project investigators and partner institutions • Design and deliver professional learning for practicing veterinarians • Prepare instructional materials and maintain clear communication with project leaders and stakeholders • Collect survey and participant feedback, analyze results, and evaluate whether programs meet their objectives • Help deliver an intensive dairy-goat production and sustainability workshop for high-school students • Contribute to a one-credit undergraduate course and package materials for online delivery • Build educational tools for veterinary students serving small-scale production-animal operations Qualifications A bachelor's degree and three years of related experience are required. Preferred preparation includes instructional or curriculum design, online and in-person training, program assessment, animal science or dairy knowledge, Extension education, and the ability to translate research for audiences with different levels of experience. Occasional travel is required. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment expected to run through March 31, 2029, with possible renewal.
