Part-Time Organic Field Crew

Happy Day Farmhaus is hiring part-time field crew for its six-acre certified organic farm near Germantown, Wisconsin, about 25 miles from Milwaukee. The farm grows vegetables and flowers for a CSA and also raises chickens. Crew members work two set weekdays per week and take part in the hands-on jobs that keep a small diversified farm moving. Responsibilities • Prepare beds, plant crops, weed, and complete routine field maintenance • Harvest vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, leafy greens, and squash • Wash and pack produce for CSA members • Feed chickens and maintain their water • Move produce or fertilizer bins, remove landscape fabric, and complete other physically demanding seasonal tasks • Help wherever needed as crop, weather, and harvest priorities change What the farm is looking for • Able to commit reliably to the remaining full season through November 25 • Prepared to work around rain, heat, pollen, mosquitoes, and other outdoor conditions • Able to work on ladders, move 50-pound bins, and spend long periods standing, walking, squatting, or kneeling • Comfortable with repetitive work and physically intense days • Takes direction well, learns new skills, and contributes positively to a small team • Enthusiastic about plants, outdoor work, and completing the day's priorities • Prior farm, greenhouse, nursery, plant, or flower experience is helpful but not required Schedule This is a two-day-per-week position running through November 25, 2026. Available schedules are Tuesday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Friday. The farm asks applicants to commit to the full remaining season. Pay and farm perks Pay is $14–$16 per hour based on experience and the season commitment. Crew members may take home produce seconds each week. Hiring process Candidates complete a farm systems and processes assessment before onboarding so they understand how the operation works. New employees then complete a one-week paid trial period. Staff provide their own boots, rain gear, hats, and other personal outdoor clothing.
