Pacific Moon Equestrian Center

About this job
Pacific Moon Equestrian Center is hiring full-time and part-time farm hands at its owner-operated dressage and boarding farm in Arlington, Washington. Owner Karen Moore lives onsite, and the team provides daily care for approximately 20 active, retired, and developing horses. This position combines horse husbandry, barn cleaning, feeding, turnout, landscape maintenance, and practical repairs. The animals depend on consistent care every day, so reliability is the central requirement.
Horse care
β’ Feed horses accurately according to the farm's instructions and individual care plans
β’ Turn horses out and bring them in using safe handling practices
β’ Clean stalls thoroughly and maintain bedding at the expected standard
β’ Change blankets as directed for weather and individual needs
β’ Wash and refill buckets, troughs, and tanks and report water problems immediately
β’ Move and stack hay and grain while protecting feed from waste or contamination
β’ Notice changes in appetite, manure, movement, behavior, or condition and alert the responsible person promptly
Applicants must already have experience handling horses and understand that even a familiar animal can create risk if gates, halters, spacing, or body position are handled carelessly. This is not a riding or training position. The priority is calm, repeatable care and a barn environment where horses, staff, and clients remain safe.
Grounds and farm maintenance
The role also maintains the property around the barns and gardens. Work may include mowing, string trimming, clearing brush, weeding, cleaning landscaped areas, repairing fences, moving lumber, and using common farm or landscape tools. Employees should keep gates, aisles, storage spaces, and work areas orderly and report broken fencing, equipment, or water systems before they create a hazard.
Physical and work requirements
Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including hay bales, grain bags, and building materials, and work outside in Washington rain, cold, heat, and mud. The farm expects a positive attitude, strong references, previous horse-farm or closely related work, and practical experience with farm tools. Applicants must communicate in English well enough to follow care and safety instructions accurately.
Schedule and compensation
The standard workday is 7:30 a.m.β4:30 p.m. Both full-time and part-time schedules are advertised. Starting pay is $22 per hour, with an increase after a positive 90-day review. Housing is not provided. Candidates should ask about assigned workdays, weekend rotation, breaks, overtime, the review process, and the amount of the potential increase during the interview.
Small-farm expectations
On a hands-on horse farm, incomplete work transfers directly to coworkers or affects animal care. Employees are expected to arrive on time, finish assigned stalls and feeding carefully, secure gates and doors, return tools, and communicate when weather or an animal changes the plan. A dependable person who takes pride in routine care will be more valuable than someone who rushes through tasks.
How to apply
Respond through the current Craigslist job listing with a clear account of your horse and farm-work experience, or text or call owner Karen Moore at 425-530-0124. Include your availability, preferred full-time or part-time schedule, references, horse-handling background, and experience with feeding, turnout, stalls, fencing, landscaping, tools, or physically demanding outdoor work.
