Full-Time Seasonal Farm Crew

Food Farm is hiring full-time seasonal crew for its certified organic farm in Wrenshall, Minnesota, about 30 minutes south of Duluth. The diversified operation raises vegetables on approximately 17 acres for a CSA and wholesale accounts, along with laying hens, small grains, greenhouse crops, and winter storage vegetables. This is a strong fit for someone exploring vegetable farming as a career. Crew members work across many parts of the operation and receive structured opportunities to learn how a long-running organic farm plans, records, grows, and markets its crops. Responsibilities • Care for greenhouse transplants and in-ground greenhouse crops • Plant and transplant vegetable crops in the field • Perform organic weed and pest control • Harvest, wash, grade, and pack produce for CSA deliveries and wholesale orders • Keep planting, harvest, food-safety, and time records • Help care for laying hens and other farm animals • Maintain farm grounds and work areas • Help with CSA member events and other seasonal projects Qualifications • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and attentive to detail • Able to maintain a steady, efficient pace while protecting produce quality • Comfortable working independently and as part of a crew • Physically prepared for repetitive farm work in all weather and able to lift 50 pounds • Interested in sustainable agriculture and good food • Previous farm experience is helpful but not required Schedule The main season runs approximately May 15 through early November, with some flexibility at either end and possible post-season work depending on the fall harvest. The normal schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., usually 40–45 hours per week. A small number of weekend hours may be needed during the season. Compensation and learning benefits Pay starts at $16 per hour, with performance bonuses available. Crew receive abundant farm produce, individualized learning goals and check-ins, educational sessions on topics such as farm finances, recordkeeping, certification, and crop rotation, and networking with neighboring sustainable farms.
