Part-Time Farm Operations Worker

Penn State is hiring a part-time Farm Operations Worker to maintain the Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center. The role keeps the farm, arenas, equipment, fencing, water systems, and facilities safe and functional for horses, riders, volunteers, and therapeutic programs. Responsibilities • Mow fields and maintain farm grounds • Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs on tractors and the farm's Gator or utility vehicle • Inspect, repair, and maintain fencing and automatic waterers • Drag and maintain three riding arenas and the turn-out fields • Replace light bulbs and complete minor electrical upkeep • Troubleshoot and repair general facility issues • Set up volunteer workdays, help coordinate projects, and work alongside volunteers • Complete other maintenance and farm duties assigned by the Stable Manager, Program Director, or 4-H educator Requirements This position is suited to a dependable, practical worker who can safely operate and maintain farm equipment, diagnose common facility issues, work around horses and volunteers, and follow through on recurring maintenance. A valid driver's license and motor-vehicle-record check are required. Because the center serves youth, the successful candidate must also complete Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse History, and FBI fingerprint clearances in addition to standard university background checks. This is a hands-on, on-site part-time role in Franklin County. Penn State does not publish a pay range in the announcement.
