Director of Agroforestry

The Walls Project is hiring for the Director of Agroforestry position in Baton Rouge, LA, with regular work at Baton Roots Community Farm and occasional travel. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. What you will do • Plan and direct seasonal crop, orchard, livestock, labor, equipment, material, and facility priorities for the assigned farm. • Train and supervise staff while also working alongside the crew during planting, cultivation, harvest, animal care, maintenance, and other time-sensitive work. • Track production, quality, safety, staffing, and resource needs and communicate decisions and exceptions across the farm's operating teams. • Set strategy and annual work plans for Baton Roots Community Farm, the agroforestry apprenticeship, food forests, urban agriculture, tree planting, youth workforce development, and partner community farms. • Schedule, train, and support farm personnel, seasonal workers, apprentices, contractors, and volunteers while coordinating daily staffing and task priorities across active growing and stewardship sites. • Manage partnerships, grants, sponsorships, compliance, budgets, production and participation data, reporting, and community storytelling while helping adapt the program for additional markets.
