About this job

Santa Fe Botanical Garden is hiring a part-time Facilities and Grounds Technician at $24.83 an hour. Help keep the garden's paths, buildings, and equipment safe and ready for visitors, education programs, and public events. What you will do • Inspect and maintain facilities, paths, and equipment; address repairs and storm cleanup. • Handle snow removal, sanitation, waste, water stations, and rodent control. • Support event setup and breakdown, track supplies, and make minor repairs. • Guide facilities volunteers and coordinate assigned contractor work. How the work fits together The garden combines an orchard, perennial borders, a dry garden, ethnobotanical growing beds, and a native piñon-juniper woodland. Plantings are chosen for their suitability to Santa Fe's conditions as well as their beauty. The orchard contributes fruit to a local food bank, while annual crop beds give visitors opportunities to learn about planting and harvest. Rainwater channels and meadow plantings demonstrate ways to work with the region's climate. Walking paths connect these spaces with outdoor classrooms, art, and gathering places. The facilities team helps make those areas accessible and functional for the community. This is an independent nonprofit garden whose work brings together horticulture, conservation, education, and the cultural relationship between people and plants in northern New Mexico. What the employer is looking for • Bring five to ten years of relevant maintenance or facilities experience and a high-school diploma or equivalent preparation. • Understand building systems, read technical plans, and use tools safely; irrigation, plumbing, electrical, and construction skills are valuable. • Hold a New Mexico driver's license and pass a background check. • Be able to lift forty pounds, climb ladders, maintain paths, and work in varied outdoor conditions. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Work twenty hours weekly, including regular evenings and weekends for events. The role reports to the Director of Horticulture and follows a work-order system. Occasional after-hours emergencies require flexibility. Approved personal-vehicle use is reimbursed. Ask about the specific weekly schedule during the interview. How to apply Email a résumé and cover letter to jobs@visitsfbg.org, using the position title in the subject line. Applications are reviewed immediately until the role is filled. The garden is located at 715 Camino Lejo.
