About this job

Boreal Bioscapes is inviting gardeners to contact its Anchorage team about current opportunities. The boutique firm designs, installs, and maintains personal outdoor spaces using sustainable practices, horticultural knowledge, and careful visual design. Its published team structure includes gardeners and lead gardeners whose experience spans garden maintenance, lawn and tree installation, native-plant care, and reviving stressed plants. What you will do • Support detailed garden and landscape maintenance at residential outdoor spaces. • Install and care for garden plants, lawns, trees, and other living landscape elements as assigned. • Observe plant vigor and site conditions and help identify watering, pruning, soil, pest, or establishment needs. • Use sustainable practices and follow the design intent for color, texture, function, and season-long appearance. • Keep tools, materials, and client work areas orderly and treat established plantings carefully. • Communicate with lead gardeners and the founder about plant stress, incomplete work, material needs, and client questions. How the work fits together This is small-team horticulture, so a gardener may move from routine maintenance to a planting or establishment task as projects change. The work calls for more judgment than simply cutting everything back: staff consider plant health, native and adapted material, site character, and the story a garden should tell. A strong crew member checks the day's priorities, handles plants and client property carefully, leaves a clean site, and shares useful observations with the lead gardener. What the employer is looking for • Hands-on gardening, greenhouse, nursery, landscape-maintenance, or plant-installation experience is useful; describe the plants and tasks you know well. • Interest in sustainable horticulture and willingness to learn how Alaska conditions affect plant choice and care. • Reliability, detail-oriented teamwork, and comfort completing active outdoor work at changing client sites. • Ability to follow a design and maintenance plan while speaking up when a plant or site condition needs attention. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The employer asks candidates to contact it for the current opening, so it does not publish one universal wage, schedule, start date, or benefit package on the source page. Those fields have not been estimated. Applicants should ask which gardener level is open, whether the work is full-time, part-time, or seasonal, the expected remaining 2026 term, pay, typical workday, transportation between sites, and whether tools or protective equipment are supplied. This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated. How to apply Email info@borealbioscapes.com and ask to be considered for current gardener opportunities. Include a resume or concise work history, availability, and examples of garden maintenance, planting, lawn or tree installation, native-plant care, pruning, irrigation, or landscape work.
