Norm's Greenhouse & Nursery is hiring a seasonal Greenhouse & Nursery Worker in Aurora. Join a third-generation family growing business, caring for plants and helping customers choose material suited to South Dakota gardens. What you will do • Care for greenhouse and nursery plants and support hands-on garden work. • Provide attentive customer service and help with plant-related questions. • Use the cash register and perform basic sales calculations. • Complete routine tasks carefully while adjusting to changing seasonal priorities. How the work fits together Norman and Dianna Evers founded the nursery in 1971. Colin and Connor continue the family's work, combining established growing knowledge with new approaches. The business concentrates on living plants rather than shelves of garden supplies. Vegetable starts, succulents, bedding plants, shrubs, trees, and evergreens are grown or potted on-site, using a soil mix prepared by the nursery. Display gardens demonstrate naturalistic planting and include native species that support pollinators and other wildlife. Customer education is central to the business: staff help connect each plant with a suitable location and explain how to give it a successful start. What the employer is looking for • Bring experience in horticulture, landscape design, a greenhouse, or a nursery; plant-identification knowledge is desirable. • Have customer-service skills and work efficiently without sacrificing care. • Be able to lift fifty pounds, bend frequently, and stand or walk on hard surfaces. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Part-time seasonal work runs through November, with a minimum of twenty-five hours weekly and every other Saturday requested. Scheduling is flexible. Expect outdoor heat, cold, and wet conditions. Wages depend on experience; confirm the rate and remaining-season dates before accepting.
