Landscape Crew Member

JEFFCO Grounds Maintenance is hiring a full-time landscape crew member to cultivate and maintain lawns and planted beds around Anchorage commercial properties. The role combines routine horticultural upkeep with safe mower and handheld-equipment work. The employer is especially interested in someone who can continue into winter snow work and build a year-round relationship with the team. What you will do • Mow lawns with walk-behind and zero-turn equipment according to property requirements. • Trim edges, use backpack blowers, and leave turf and hard surfaces clean after service. • Water and fertilize planted areas and report visible irrigation, turf, or plant-health problems. • Remove weeds, install mulch, rake beds, and clear litter from assigned commercial properties. • Load, secure, and care for tools and equipment and communicate any damage or maintenance need. • Work cooperatively with the crew and transition to trained snow-removal duties in winter if hired year-round. How the work fits together The crew begins at the Anchorage shop, prepares the truck and equipment, and follows a route of maintained properties. Each stop requires completing the contracted tasks efficiently while preserving a consistent finish and keeping customers' active spaces safe. The employee must be comfortable changing between mower, trimmer, watering, weeding, mulch, and cleanup work. Paid travel time covers movement to job sites, but employees must have their own transportation to the shop. What the employer is looking for • Experience maintaining lawns and landscape beds and ability to use walk-behind and zero-turn mowers, trimmers, and backpack blowers. • Valid Alaska driver's license with a recent motor-vehicle record, an active phone, and personal transportation to the shop. • Ability to work as a dependable team member and complete a DOT physical. • Willingness to work in changing Alaska weather and comply with the employer's drug-free and random-testing policies. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The published pay is $15–$22 per hour depending on experience. The schedule is full-time Monday through Friday, eight hours per day, with likely overtime. JEFFCO pays travel time to job sites and says the ideal person can work landscape maintenance in summer and snow removal in winter. This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season.
