Landscaper II — Campus Horticulture

Utah State University is hiring a full-time Landscaper II in Logan to care for campus trees, shrubs, flower beds, turf, irrigation, and outdoor spaces. This is a year-round horticulture role with plant-care responsibility, equipment operation, seasonal snow work, and opportunities to lead student or hourly employees. Responsibilities • Plant, prune, cultivate, water, fertilize, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and landscape beds • Diagnose plant-health concerns and help select appropriate horticultural treatments • Operate, adjust, and repair irrigation systems and monitor watering needs • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides according to training, labels, and university procedures • Mow, edge, weed, rake, mulch, clean, and complete other grounds-maintenance work • Operate hand tools, power equipment, vehicles, and heavier landscape machinery • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment • Remove snow and ice and support weather-related campus operations • Train or direct student and hourly staff on assigned projects and safe work practices Qualifications Applicants need two years of relevant experience or an associate or technical degree in a related area. The work requires practical knowledge of plant care, irrigation, landscape tools, chemicals, and safe equipment use. Candidates must be able to communicate clearly, work independently and with a crew, lift at least 25 pounds, and work outside through heat, cold, precipitation, and changing seasons.
