About this job

Little John's Lawns is adding a lawn and landscape maintenance team member at its Mesa shop. The family-owned company maintains properties across Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek using mowing, trimming, pruning, bed care, planting, sod, fertilization, and irrigation services. It is looking for a dependable person who enjoys physical outdoor work, can cooperate with a route crew, and wants to improve practical landscape skills. What you will do • Mow, edge, trim, and blow assigned properties according to the route lead's standards. • Prune shrubs, remove weeds and debris, and help maintain clean planted beds. • Assist with planting, softscape installation, sod, fertilizer, and seasonal cleanup when scheduled. • Watch for broken irrigation, poor coverage, plant stress, or property damage and report it promptly. • Prepare, clean, and secure hand tools and powered equipment before travel to the next stop. • Work respectfully around customers, pets, vehicles, structures, and other crew members. How the work fits together Recurring route care requires every person to understand the service scope and the order of work. The crew loads at the Mesa shop, reviews the route, divides mowing and detail tasks, then walks each property before leaving. During improvement work, team members protect existing irrigation and plants while coordinating soil, sod, plants, and cleanup. Questions are raised early so the crew does not repeat avoidable mistakes at later stops. What the employer is looking for • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are explicit employer expectations. • Ability to work as part of a team and accept coaching in a drug-free workplace. • Physical endurance for outdoor landscape work in Arizona conditions. • A genuine desire to learn; relevant lawn, garden, irrigation, nursery, or outdoor-labor experience should be described but is not presented as an absolute requirement. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The employer does not publish a wage, schedule, benefits, or a seasonal end date on its hiring page, so none have been estimated. Applicants should confirm whether the current need is full-time, typical start time and weekly hours, overtime, summer scheduling, transportation from the Mesa shop, tool and uniform policies, and any available benefits. This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated. How to apply Use the direct application on Little John's Lawns' careers page or email info@littlejohnslawns.com. Include transportation, availability, recent work history, relevant landscape tasks, and why you want to join a family-owned maintenance team.
