About this job

Rainshadow Organics is hiring a year-round Livestock Manager in Sisters. Take responsibility for the care of a diverse group of farm animals while working with a small team producing food for its community. What you will do β€’ Care for pigs, dairy cattle, poultry, horses, and other farm animals. β€’ Track weather-related animal needs, communicate supplies, and coordinate with the part-time livestock worker. β€’ Keep work vehicles clean, communicate with the farm kitchen, and assist with greenhouse needs when required. How the work fits together Sarahlee Lawrence farms the land where she grew up, alongside her parents and a close-knit team. Her parents previously focused on hay and horses and now contribute to the wider farm through flowers, irrigation, and other work. Rainshadow combines heirloom vegetables and heritage livestock within a certified-organic, regenerative growing system adapted to Central Oregon's high desert. Its approach centers on soil health and the connection between the land and the food it produces. Farm shares, a farm store, and meals built around farm ingredients bring that production to customers. Livestock care is one part of this interconnected operation, alongside vegetable growing and the work of the kitchen. What the employer is looking for β€’ Be self-directed, organized, communicative, and comfortable with teamwork. β€’ Commit to at least one year and handle repeated 50-pound lifting. β€’ Work in changing weather and variable early or late schedules. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Salary is $2,600/month, equivalent to $31,200 annually. Expect about 40 hours over five days, with two consecutive days off. Benefits include paid leave, a single-person full-diet CSA share, optional housing, and a healthcare stipend and retirement match after probation. Pets cannot be accommodated. How to apply Send a resume, three references, and a cover letter to both info@rainshadoworganics.com and farm@rainshadoworganics.com. Discuss animal-husbandry experience, farming goals, and any tractor or manual-transmission skills. Include your contact details and availability.
