Market Garden Manager

Gorman Heritage Farm is hiring a Market Garden Manager to lead sustainable vegetable production and its CSA in Evendale. Combine hands-on growing with planning, staff leadership, and farm-based education. What you will do • Plan crops, order supplies, and lead planting, cultivation, and harvesting. • Manage CSA communication, produce distribution, buyers, and sales records. • Train staff and volunteers; maintain irrigation, tools, greenhouse, and high-tunnel infrastructure. How the work fits together Gorman Heritage Farm connects food production with learning about agriculture and the natural world. Its foundation carries forward the legacy of Jim and Dorothy Gorman, whose family farm became an outdoor education center. Gardens, hiking trails, and educational programs now help visitors understand working land and where food comes from. The farm's values include stewardship, service, practical learning, and meaningful work. It also seeks to make farming and sustainable food production more welcoming to people historically excluded from those spaces. The market garden sits within that wider mission: growing food is both a productive enterprise and a way for people to develop skills and a closer relationship with the land. What the employer is looking for • Have at least two years of substantial sustainable, regenerative, or organic vegetable-growing experience. • Bring irrigation, greenhouse, recordkeeping, and staff or volunteer leadership skills. • Hold a driver's license, pass a background check, and handle 50-pound lifting. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $20–$25/hour for approximately 40 hours weekly, potentially reduced in winter. Outdoor work continues across seasons; evenings and weekends are required as needed. At least a quarter of the week involves planning and communication.
