About this job
Novinger Farms is hiring for the Production Agriculture Team Member position in Kirksville, MO. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
β’ Check and care for assigned livestock, water, feed, fences, gates, corrals, and ranch facilities.
β’ Assist with safe livestock movement, pasture work, equipment use, repairs, and seasonal ranch projects as trained.
β’ Communicate animal-health, water, fence, weather, predator, equipment, or safety concerns without delay.
β’ Support the assigned side of the production operation, which may include cow-calf and feedlot checks, feeding, water, bedding, livestock movement, facility care, row-crop work, equipment support, or farm maintenance according to experience and training.
β’ Observe cattle, crops, fences, drainage, feed, water, machinery, and facilities during daily work, then communicate animal-health, weather, crop, equipment, or safety concerns before they become larger production problems.
β’ Work cooperatively with the family and farm team through changing agricultural priorities, care for assigned tools and equipment, and complete each livestock, crop, or facility task to the instructed standard before moving on.
How the work fits together
The day begins with livestock, water, and security checks, because those observations determine the rest of the work. The employee then completes feeding, moves, repairs, pasture or equipment tasks, and facility cleanup in the manager's priority order. Gates, animals, tools, and vehicles are accounted for at every transition. At Novinger Farms, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Support the assigned side of the production operation, which may include cow-calf and feedlot checks, feeding, water, bedding, livestock movement, facility care, row-crop work, equipment support, or farm maintenance according to experience and training. Observe cattle, crops, fences, drainage, feed, water, machinery, and facilities during daily work, then communicate animal-health, weather, crop, equipment, or safety concerns before they become larger production problems. Work cooperatively with the family and farm team through changing agricultural priorities, care for assigned tools and equipment, and complete each livestock, crop, or facility task to the instructed standard before moving on.
What the employer is looking for
β’ Interest in a practical career in production agriculture, willingness to cooperate with others year after year, and flexibility to adjust the workweek around livestock, crops, weather, planting, harvest, and other time-sensitive farm needs.
β’ Dependable attendance, safe judgment around cattle and machinery, ability to follow instructions and ask questions, and readiness for active in-person work outdoors and in agricultural facilities; exact experience requirements depend on the placement discussed.
β’ Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
β’ Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The farm accepts interest in full-time careers, part-time employment, seasonal employment, and internships. Agricultural schedules must adapt to animal care, weather, planting, harvest, and equipment needs, so applicants should describe any fixed limits in the form. Novinger Farms does not publish the numeric wage, guaranteed weekly hours, benefit package, physical-lifting standard, or a single shift for this general production-agriculture opportunity. The exact assignment, employment status, reporting location, schedule, compensation, and benefits should be established during the hiring conversation. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person agricultural and animal-care position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
