Fall Ranch Hand / Irrigator

Diamond 4 Ranch is recruiting a Fall Ranch Hand / Irrigator in the Lander valley for September 15–October 25. Support hay production and the family's horse-based outfitting operation. What you will do • Irrigate fields, make and stack hay, and maintain fences. • Haul horses, hay, and machinery; help with repairs and basic construction. • Care for horses and complete varied property-maintenance tasks. • Work independently or with a small crew, communicating clearly as priorities change. How the work fits together Jim and Mary Allen established this family business in 1973, continuing a tradition of welcoming visitors to the Wind River Mountains that began with Jim's grandfather in the 1920s. Their three daughters grew up on the ranch, and youngest daughter Jessie now carries the operation forward. The family offers horseback outings, wilderness pack trips, fishing, hunting, and cabin stays. Its mountain base lies in Dickinson Park, with additional access through the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie and Worthen Meadows trailheads. Low-impact camping and thoughtful use of the surrounding landscape are part of the Allens' approach. The ranch's name comes from their horse brand. For this position, most work takes place at the lower ranch near Lander, supporting the hay supply and animals used by the mountain operation. What the employer is looking for • Be eighteen or older, with a high-school diploma, U.S. work eligibility, and a valid driver's license. • Handle sustained physical work, 65-pound hay bales, and lifting 70 pounds to head height. • Manual-transmission truck and gooseneck-trailer experience is preferred. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Monthly pay varies; confirm the amount during hiring. Housing and meals are free, with tips and workers' compensation.
