Miss Me Not Farm is hiring for the Residential Ranch Hand position in Washoe Valley, NV. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property. What you will do • Check and care for assigned livestock, water, feed, fences, gates, corrals, and ranch facilities. • Assist with safe livestock movement, pasture work, equipment use, repairs, and seasonal ranch projects as trained. • Communicate animal-health, water, fence, weather, predator, equipment, or safety concerns without delay. • Care for the farm's animals in their habitats, learn each feeding and care routine, keep animal areas secure and orderly, and report health, behavior, water, feed, fence, or housing concerns promptly. • Plan, plant, tend, and harvest produce in the gardens, hoop house, and greenhouse; help with CSA work; and support flood irrigation, pasture management, or grass-hay harvest when assigned and trained. • Assist with groundskeeping, tree planting, firewood and wood-chip work, Wellesley House operations, small equipment, and building, fencing, underground irrigation, and other system maintenance within demonstrated skill. How the work fits together The day begins with livestock, water, and security checks, because those observations determine the rest of the work. The employee then completes feeding, moves, repairs, pasture or equipment tasks, and facility cleanup in the manager's priority order. Gates, animals, tools, and vehicles are accounted for at every transition. What the employer is looking for • At least 18 years old and able to make a minimum six-month residential commitment; the farm prefers people who can remain through the end of the next August or September growing season. • Readiness to live cooperatively in shared quarters, complete the agreed 18 weekly work hours, provide background and job history, personal and professional references, and skills information, and participate in a phone or farm interview. • Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures. • Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Residential Ranch Hands work 18 hours per week in exchange for a furnished small private bedroom with shared living room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and internet access. This is a residential learning and work-exchange arrangement rather than a published cash-wage position. The minimum stay is six months, applicants are welcomed year-round, and most past participants remained eight to 24 months.
