About this job
Pribyl Ranch is hiring for the Seasonal General Ranch Worker position in Great Falls, MT. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
β’ Check and care for assigned livestock, water, feed, fences, gates, corrals, and ranch facilities.
β’ Assist with safe livestock movement, pasture work, equipment use, repairs, and seasonal ranch projects as trained.
β’ Communicate animal-health, water, fence, weather, predator, equipment, or safety concerns without delay.
β’ Complete the daily livestock, water, feed, fence, gate, pasture, yard, and facility tasks assigned by the ranch, checking finished work and reporting anything that still needs attention.
β’ Assist with animal movement, general repairs, cleanup, material handling, vehicle or equipment support, and seasonal projects only within the training and authorization provided by the ranch.
β’ Respond to changing weather and ranch priorities while protecting animals, crops, equipment, coworkers, and neighboring property and securing gates, tools, and work areas at each transition.
How the work fits together
The day begins with livestock, water, and security checks, because those observations determine the rest of the work. The employee then completes feeding, moves, repairs, pasture or equipment tasks, and facility cleanup in the manager's priority order. Gates, animals, tools, and vehicles are accounted for at every transition. At Pribyl Ranch, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Complete the daily livestock, water, feed, fence, gate, pasture, yard, and facility tasks assigned by the ranch, checking finished work and reporting anything that still needs attention. Assist with animal movement, general repairs, cleanup, material handling, vehicle or equipment support, and seasonal projects only within the training and authorization provided by the ranch. Respond to changing weather and ranch priorities while protecting animals, crops, equipment, coworkers, and neighboring property and securing gates, tools, and work areas at each transition.
What the employer is looking for
β’ A dependable, safety-minded approach to physical outdoor work, readiness to follow ranch-specific instructions, and calm behavior around livestock, vehicles, tools, uneven ground, dust, mud, heat, cold, and wind.
β’ Reliable transportation to the Great Falls-area ranch and clear seasonal availability; the employer does not state a mandatory degree, license, or fixed amount of previous ranch experience on the opening notice.
β’ Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
β’ Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
This is seasonal, in-person general ranch work based at 130 South Eden Road near Great Falls. The ranch does not publish the opening's start and end dates, normal days, shift times, weekly hours, on-call or weekend expectations, numeric compensation, housing, or employee benefits. Applicants should use the initial conversation to request the complete current job scope and confirm those terms, including the livestock involved, routine lifting, equipment authorization, transportation between work areas, overtime, meals, and any housing before deciding whether the position is suitable. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer.
