About this job

Lucky Ladd Farms is hiring a full-time Zookeeper I for its swing animal-care team. Rotate between farm animals, hoofstock, birds, small mammals, reptiles, and other species while supporting safe, educational visitor encounters. What you will do • Feed, water, clean, disinfect, and monitor animals. • Report health or behavior changes and keep accurate care records. • Carry out enrichment and basic training plans under direction. • Supervise encounters, give keeper talks, and help seasonal staff. How the work fits together Jason and Amy Ladd developed Lucky Ladd Farms after welcoming school and church groups to visit their animals. They moved to the Eagleville property in 2008 and opened it to the public the following year. The family-owned farmstead combines agriculture, animal experiences, and outdoor activities across 60 acres. Visitors encounter livestock, explore nature trails, and return for seasonal flowers, berries, pumpkins, and farm events. That mix makes animal care part of both the daily operation and the farm's educational purpose. The setting introduces families to animals and agricultural life while offering a varied collection for the care team to work with. It remains centered on the Ladd family's aim of helping visitors reconnect with life in the country. What the employer is looking for • Have at least one year of professional zoo, wildlife-rehabilitation, or similar experience; a relevant degree is preferred. • Know animal husbandry, communicate well, and lift 50 pounds. • Have current rabies vaccination or accept employer-funded vaccination. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $15–$17 hourly. Variable shifts include weekends, holidays, and an emergency on-call rotation. Benefits include paid development, supplied boots and workwear, and meals on shifts of six-plus hours. Additional benefits may accompany advancement after one year. How to apply Apply through the Zookeeper I application linked from Lucky Ladd Farms' careers page. Include relevant animal-care experience and schedule availability. Hiring may require a background check and drug screen.
