About this job

Blue Roof Orchard is hiring part-time Apple Harvest Workers in Belmont for fall 2026. Work beside the owners of a small organic orchard, bringing apples from the trees into customer orders. What you will do • Pick apples and grade washed fruit for quality. • Weigh and pack apples for delivery. • Help with weeding, mulch, tree supports, and other orchard upkeep. • Communicate with coworkers and follow instructions carefully. How the work fits together Chris and Juli McGuire purchased their twelve-acre farm in 2003. They first grew vegetables under the name Two Onion Farm, then planted apples alongside those crops in 2012. Over time, the orchard became the focus of the business. The move toward perennial fruit also supported their aim of protecting hillside soil. Today, Blue Roof produces apples, applesauce, and apple butter while maintaining the close customer relationships developed through its earlier CSA. The owners live on the farm and combine crop care with stewardship of the surrounding habitat. Compost, mulch, cover crops, waterways, and pollinator plantings all contribute to that work. Harvest staff join this owner-operated setting at its busiest time, when careful picking and sorting turn a year's growing effort into fruit ready for customers. What the employer is looking for • Be at least fourteen; previous orchard experience is not required. • Work at a steady pace in changing outdoor conditions. • Lift 45-pound containers and work on six-to-eight-foot ladders with a picking basket. • Be comfortable bending, kneeling, and communicating without earbuds. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay starts at $15 hourly. Work runs through approximately November 6; September–October availability is welcome. Agree on at least two or three half-days or one full day weekly. Weekday shifts are usually 8:30 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m., with some flexibility. Grading and packing take place indoors. How to apply Complete the fall employment application with your availability, transportation arrangements, and relevant interests or experience. Choose the shifts you generally expect to work. Questions may be sent to farmers@bluerooforchard.com.
