About this job

Forever Young Aquaponics is accepting interest for a full-time aquaculture technician at its newly launched Jonesboro, Georgia farm. The local team integrates recirculating fish culture with deep-water leafy-green production in a closed loop. This position concentrates on the fish side of that living system while coordinating closely with greenhouse and systems staff. What you will do β€’ Follow feeding plans and observe fish behavior, appetite, growth, appearance, and mortality β€’ Test and record dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, ammonia, and other assigned water-quality measures β€’ Help stock, grade, sample, move, and harvest fish using calm, biosecure handling practices β€’ Inspect pumps, filters, tanks, piping, aeration, alarms, and other RAS components during routine rounds β€’ Clean equipment and production areas and follow separation, disinfection, and visitor-control procedures β€’ Escalate water-quality, animal-health, or equipment abnormalities promptly and document corrective work How the work fits together Aquaponics links animal care, water chemistry, mechanical systems, and crop production, so a small change can affect the entire farm. The technician will compare observations with normal operating ranges, repeat questionable readings, and notify the lead before a trend becomes an emergency. Fish work may include early, weekend, or holiday checks because oxygen, circulation, and feeding continue every day. Accurate records help the team connect feed use, fish health, water conditions, and plant performance. What the farm is looking for Experience in aquaculture, fisheries, aquarium systems, hatcheries, animal husbandry, or water-quality monitoring is preferred. Knowledge of recirculating aquaculture systems is helpful, but a dependable candidate who understands basic water chemistry and learns hands-on procedures may be considered. Applicants should be comfortable around water, pumps, tanks, nets, cleaning chemicals, and live fish and able to follow biosecurity and safety instructions without shortcuts. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is described as a full-time, on-site technician role with flexible hours and weekend coverage when needed. The source does not publish compensation or benefits. Candidates should ask for the current pay range, regular shift, on-call expectations, benefit eligibility, and whether the Jonesboro opening is connected to tilapia or another current production species during the interview. This is an in-person agricultural position. Farm priorities can change with animal health, weather, crop condition, equipment availability, and harvest timing, so the successful person must communicate clearly and adjust without losing sight of safety or animal welfare. Daily notes and records should be complete enough that another team member can understand what was observed, what was done, and what still needs attention. Tools, vehicles, gates, feed areas, water systems, and workspaces should be left clean, secure, and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect physical work that can include standing or walking for long periods, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, wet or dusty conditions, and work outdoors or in warm agricultural buildings. A dependable arrival time matters because livestock and living production systems cannot simply wait for a late shift. Candidates should ask the employer about the exact weekly schedule, overtime treatment, training period, and any benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. How to apply Email a resume and concise statement of interest to team@waterfarmers.com with β€œJonesboro Aquaculture Technician” in the subject line. Describe relevant fish species, water-testing methods, RAS components, animal-care routines, mechanical troubleshooting, and the dates you are available to begin.
