Vineyard Mechanic – Elk Grove

Trinchero Family Estates is looking for a full-time mechanic to keep its vineyard fleet safe, dependable, and ready for the work of the season. Based primarily at the Eschinger Ranch shop in Elk Grove, this position supports vineyard locations stretching from Amador County to Santa Barbara. It is a practical role for an agricultural mechanic who can diagnose a problem, plan the repair, and collaborate with operators and other shop teams. Equipment and repair responsibilities • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vineyard tractors, implements, harvesters, ATVs, utility vehicles, pickups, heavy trucks, and trailers • Perform preventive maintenance and help plan repairs before equipment downtime disrupts vineyard operations • Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults and complete welding, cutting, and fabrication work as needed • Use common shop equipment safely, including lathes, drill presses, band saws, grinders, and diagnostic tools • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new vineyard equipment • Coordinate service work across ranches and help keep the vineyard truck and mobile repair resources ready for field calls • Work with vendors on parts, supplies, and specialized repairs, and contribute information used in shop budgeting • Share technical knowledge, train or guide coworkers when appropriate, and participate in planning and safety meetings • Keep repair records, projects, tools, and work areas organized Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Trinchero prefers at least two years of experience as an agricultural mechanic, although demonstrated mechanical ability and sound troubleshooting judgment are central to the role. Candidates should be comfortable balancing multiple repairs and communicating with equipment operators, vendors, and vineyard staff. Basic computer skills are required. English is required, and Spanish is preferred. Work environment and schedule The mechanic will travel among company vineyard sites and work both in the shop and outdoors around chemicals, vehicles, and operating machinery. The job includes prolonged standing, work in changing weather, and lifting up to 55 pounds. Vineyard priorities can require irregular hours, longer shifts, or weekends during peak periods. The published wage range is $26.75–$32.65 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
