Truck and Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic

Bonterra Organic Estates is hiring a full-time mechanic to maintain the vehicles and agricultural equipment used across its Hopland and Ukiah ranch operations. The company is a certified B Corporation with roughly 830 acres of vineyards and a long-established focus on organic farming. This position belongs in the vineyard operation: the mechanic responds to field breakdowns, keeps essential equipment available to crews, and supports the inspection and documentation required for a working agricultural fleet. What you will be responsible for • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on cars, pickups, heavy trucks, tractors, vineyard implements, tools, and related equipment • Travel between Hopland- and Ukiah-area ranches to complete field repairs and reduce operational downtime • Inspect vehicles under applicable BIT and Department of Transportation requirements and maintain complete work-order records • Evaluate major repair needs, explain findings, and help determine the right parts, supplies, outside service, or repair plan • Maintain the shop, service trucks, tools, and inventory in safe working order • Troubleshoot equipment concerns with operators and report unsafe conditions promptly • Transport farming equipment when assigned and follow safe loading and driving practices • Complete welding, cutting, fabrication, hydraulic, and electrical repairs within your training and authorization • Read service manuals, diagrams, drawings, and schematics to make accurate repairs • Look for practical improvements that increase fleet safety, reliability, or performance Experience and credentials The employer is seeking five or more years of experience maintaining vehicles, heavy trucks, or vineyard equipment. Applicants with relevant trade-school training and somewhat less field experience are encouraged to apply. A clean California Class C driver's license is required, and a Class A license is preferred. Candidates should understand diesel- and propane-powered equipment, have basic computer ability, use everyday math confidently, and be able to read and communicate in English. Spanish is helpful. Relevant technical certifications are valued. Schedule and physical requirements The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with overtime, weekend work, harvest coverage, or emergency calls when operations require it. The work includes standing, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, and frequent lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier handling. Applicants must be able to wear required protective equipment and complete the employer's pre-employment screening process. The published wage range is $32–$45 per hour.
