Vineyard Scout II

Trinchero Family Estates is hiring an experienced vineyard scout to support vine-health decisions from its St. Helena location. This is a full-time field role for someone who can recognize patterns in a vineyard, collect dependable data, and turn observations into useful recommendations for the viticulture team. The scout works closely with the vineyard manager, viticulturists, and other scouts while also helping less-experienced team members build their field skills. What you will do • Scout vineyard blocks for biological and environmental problems that may affect vine health or fruit quality • Identify and document insects, weeds, nutrient deficiencies or toxicities, and symptoms associated with powdery mildew, sour rot, bunch rot, esca, Phomopsis, and other vineyard diseases • Locate recurring problem areas, map or record observations, and communicate practical treatment recommendations to the team • Complete seasonal yield work using flower counts, cluster counts, cluster weights, and pruning weights • Lead or support field trials and research projects, including accurate data collection and follow-through • Use vineyard software, GIS tools, mobile data collection, spreadsheets, email, and written reports to organize findings • Mentor junior scouts and model safe, consistent field practices • Coordinate daily priorities with vineyard leadership and adjust the scouting plan as crop conditions change What you bring Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of agricultural or vineyard experience focused on pests, disease, or plant nutrition. A degree in viticulture, agriculture, or a related field is preferred. The role also requires a valid California driver's license, working ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the judgment to analyze field data and explain conclusions clearly. English is required; Spanish is preferred. Field conditions and schedule This position involves eight to ten hours of walking or standing over uneven vineyard ground, regular outdoor exposure, and lifting up to 55 pounds. Peak periods may require eight- to twelve-hour shifts. The published pay range is $25.80–$31.00 per hour, with the final rate based on experience and qualifications.
