About this job

Forever Young Aquaponics is accepting interest for a full-time greenhouse technician at its Jonesboro, Georgia aquaponics farm. This role works on the plant side of the farm's deep-water culture system, producing baby leafy greens with water recirculated from the fish operation. It is a practical crop-care and food-safety position rather than a desk-based greenhouse role. What you will do β€’ Sow, transplant, space, inspect, and care for baby spinach, lettuce, and other assigned leafy greens β€’ Monitor germination, crop uniformity, roots, leaves, pests, disease symptoms, nutrient response, and harvest readiness β€’ Log water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, crop performance, and environmental observations β€’ Inspect rafts, troughs, water surfaces, irrigation parts, netting, and greenhouse structures for algae, debris, damage, or malfunction β€’ Harvest, sort, weigh, pack, and protect the cold chain according to quality and traceability procedures β€’ Sanitize trays, rafts, tools, and workstations and support light maintenance and repair How the work fits together The greenhouse team must protect both crop health and the shared aquatic system. Technicians should report an unusual reading or plant symptom rather than making an unapproved chemical adjustment. The work moves from propagation and raft care to harvest and packing, with sanitation between zones. Records connect a finished package to its crop cycle and document the conditions that produced it. The technician also coordinates water checks with aquaculture and systems coworkers. What the farm is looking for Hands-on greenhouse, hydroponic, horticultural, nursery, or aquaponic production experience is preferred. Applicants should understand plant life cycles, basic nutrient management, greenhouse climate, and early pest or disease recognition. Deep-water culture, leafy-greens, food-safety, organic-production, and hand-tool experience are valuable. The role requires the ability to lift about 40 pounds and spend a full shift standing, bending, reaching, and working in a warm, humid greenhouse. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The opening is full-time and may include rotating weekend or holiday shifts. PPE, training, and tools are provided on site. Compensation is not published. Candidates should confirm the current pay range, expected shift, overtime policy, benefit eligibility, and whether any travel between facilities remains part of the role before accepting an offer. This is an in-person agricultural position. Farm priorities can change with animal health, weather, crop condition, equipment availability, and harvest timing, so the successful person must communicate clearly and adjust without losing sight of safety or animal welfare. Daily notes and records should be complete enough that another team member can understand what was observed, what was done, and what still needs attention. Tools, vehicles, gates, feed areas, water systems, and workspaces should be left clean, secure, and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect physical work that can include standing or walking for long periods, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, wet or dusty conditions, and work outdoors or in warm agricultural buildings. A dependable arrival time matters because livestock and living production systems cannot simply wait for a late shift. Candidates should ask the employer about the exact weekly schedule, overtime treatment, training period, and any benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. How to apply Email a resume and short introduction to team@waterfarmers.com with β€œJonesboro Greenhouse Technician” in the subject line. Highlight crop varieties, hydroponic or DWC work, sanitation programs, environmental controls, pest scouting, harvest, packing, and any aquaponics experience.
