About this job

Sweet Greens Farm is hiring an Assistant Farm Manager in Scottsville. Lead and work alongside the crew growing cut flowers and specialty produce for regional customers. What you will do • Train crew members, organize daily tasks, and monitor work quality and progress. • Plant, cultivate, irrigate, harvest, and prepare flowers and vegetables. • Bunch stems, make bouquets, and maintain clean production areas. • Support equipment, tool, greenhouse, and property upkeep. How the work fits together Jim Marzluff and Claudia Seixas have grown flowers and vegetables together since 2008. Their farming background includes apprenticeships on the West Coast, ecological horticulture training, and managing an organic farm in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They started their own enterprise in South Carolina before moving to Scottsville in 2016. Today, their family business supplies florists, designers, grocery stores, and a Charlottesville farmers market. Wedding and event flowers add another outlet for the harvest. More than five acres of production include both open fields and high tunnels, with tractors and hand tools suited to the scale of the operation. The farm aims to build living soil while creating a dependable local flower supply. The assistant manager works in a close-knit setting alongside both owners and a small crew. What the employer is looking for • Bring production-farming experience; flower experience is especially useful. • Communicate clearly, lead constructively, and work efficiently. • Have a license and transportation; lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive outdoor work. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $21–$23 hourly for approximately 35–40 weekday hours through November 24, 2026. Starts vary seasonally. The lunch break is unpaid. Excess flowers and produce are available; longer-service benefits have eligibility conditions.
