Orr's Farm Market is hiring seasonal, part-time Barnyard Animal Care staff in Martinsburg. Starting pay is $13.50 per hour. Help care for farm animals and maintain a clean, welcoming barnyard for visiting families. What you will do • Provide feed and water, clean stalls, and wash feeding and watering buckets. • Help groom animals and handle them for veterinary and farrier visits. • Watch for health concerns and assist with incoming hay and feed deliveries. • Set up and clean playground areas, remove rubbish, and complete daily cleaning tasks. How the work fits together Orr's combines fruit growing, a farm market, pick-your-own crops, a bakery, and family activities. The family's orchard business began in 1954, and its retail market opened in 1995 to connect local customers with the produce grown on the farm. Katy Orr-Dove returned to the family operation in 2007 and helped develop its school visits and pumpkin patch. She and Don Dove now lead the business, with dedicated orchard, market, and barnyard staff. Barnyard Manager William Slonaker joined in 2026, bringing experience in agriculture and customer service. Animal care supports the hands-on farm experience offered to visitors, while daily cleaning keeps the shared animal and play areas ready for the next group. What the employer is looking for • Be dependable and gentle with animals; farm or animal experience is preferred. • Be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly. • Tractor experience for manure-spreader operation is helpful; training is available for workers eighteen or older. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Applicants must be sixteen by September 1, 2026. The farm offers flexible seasonal shifts, including half days and full days; agree your animal-care schedule during hiring. New seasonal employees generally need availability through November. No travel is required, and training is provided.
