Texas A&M AgriLife Research is hiring a Research Technician II in Lubbock to support its corn-breeding program. This is a field-intensive role covering seed preparation, plot establishment, irrigation and crop care, pollination, harvest, data, equipment maintenance, and supervision of student workers. Responsibilities • Prepare and package seed for field trials and breeding nurseries • Plant research plots and maintain accurate plot and seed records • Apply herbicides, fertilizer, and irrigation water according to research protocols • Hand-pollinate and harvest nursery material • Collect measurements and samples from field experiments • Harvest yield trials and other breeding populations • Shell and process hand-harvested corn ears • Enter research data and maintain seed inventory • Operate, service, and repair research and farm equipment • Help hire, schedule, and supervise student workers Qualifications Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent preparation and three years of related experience. Knowledge of farm equipment, basic office equipment, and computers is required, along with the ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, manage several tasks, and cooperate with a research team. A Texas driver's license is preferred. The position requires moderately heavy lifting, physically forceful work, and outdoor hours beyond the standard schedule. Weekend and holiday work may be necessary during planting, pollination, and harvest. This is a full-time hourly role with pay based on qualifications.
