Dairy Forage & Equipment Operator

Harmony Grove Dairy Farm is adding full-time seasonal equipment operators at its Coble family dairy in Waynesboro, Georgia. This role produces the corn, silage, small grain, soybeans, winter wheat, hay, and other forage that keep a working dairy supplied. It is a field-production job tied directly to the dairy rather than a trucking or warehouse position. What you will do • Operate tractors, balers, grain carts, seeders, drills, mowers, rakes, tedders, sprayers, skid steers, and other assigned farm equipment • Prepare fields by clearing debris, leveling ground, disking, aerating, and completing other tillage work • Plant, fertilize, mow, rake, bale, stack, and help harvest grain, hay, oilseed, and silage crops • Attach and remove implements carefully and complete pre-use equipment checks • Mow and control weeds around fields while protecting forage quality and dairy feed supplies • Perform routine cleaning and minor upkeep and report mechanical problems before they become unsafe How the work fits together The operator will move between crop stages as the season advances. A day may begin with attaching and inspecting an implement, continue with planting or mowing, and finish with cleaning equipment and recording a repair concern. Because feed quality affects the dairy herd, employees must avoid contamination, prevent unnecessary field loss, and follow the farm's instructions for timing, moisture, storage, and traffic patterns. Licensed employees may be asked to drive farm vehicles or transport coworkers. What the farm is looking for At least two months of agricultural-equipment experience is required. Applicants should be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds, work safely around moving machinery, follow field and chemical-safety instructions, and perform outdoor work in heat, humidity, light rain, and other changing conditions. Workers must be able to obtain a U.S. driver's license within 30 days of the start date. Practical experience with baling, planting, spraying, silage, grain carts, or preventive maintenance is especially useful. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The current order pays $16.08 per hour and lists a full-time seasonal term through December 15, 2026. The published schedule is generally 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and approximately 60 hours per week, with exact hours driven by weather and crop readiness. This opening participates in the H-2A program, but eligible U.S. workers may also apply through the published recruitment route. This is an in-person agricultural position. Farm priorities can change with animal health, weather, crop condition, equipment availability, and harvest timing, so the successful person must communicate clearly and adjust without losing sight of safety or animal welfare. Daily notes and records should be complete enough that another team member can understand what was observed, what was done, and what still needs attention. Tools, vehicles, gates, feed areas, water systems, and workspaces should be left clean, secure, and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect physical work that can include standing or walking for long periods, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, wet or dusty conditions, and work outdoors or in warm agricultural buildings. A dependable arrival time matters because livestock and living production systems cannot simply wait for a late shift.
