About this job
Hickory Ridge Orchard is hiring for the Corn Maze & Jump Pillow Attendant position in Mexico, MO. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Enforce the jump-pillow rules consistently, including age separation, no flips, and no rough play, while giving children and guardians clear, friendly directions before a safety concern develops.
• Hand out corn-maze checkpoint cards and cutting snips, explain the drawing and safe snip use, and guide visitors toward the maze, sunflower and pumpkin areas, hayrides, restrooms, and other farm locations.
• Watch the nearby hayrack route, keep guests clear while wagons pass, maintain the tent table and card supply, pick up trash immediately, and report crowd, equipment, weather, or safety concerns to the lead.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Hickory Ridge Orchard, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Enforce the jump-pillow rules consistently, including age separation, no flips, and no rough play, while giving children and guardians clear, friendly directions before a safety concern develops. Hand out corn-maze checkpoint cards and cutting snips, explain the drawing and safe snip use, and guide visitors toward the maze, sunflower and pumpkin areas, hayrides, restrooms, and other farm locations. Watch the nearby hayrack route, keep guests clear while wagons pass, maintain the tent table and card supply, pick up trash immediately, and report crowd, equipment, weather, or safety concerns to the lead.
What the employer is looking for
• Proactive problem solving, clear communication, basic math, teamwork, punctuality, accountability, and enough familiarity with the orchard layout to assist a visitor who appears lost or uncertain.
• Physical stamina to stand and remain attentive through a busy outdoor shift, willingness to enforce rules courteously, and readiness to share cleanup and orchard-care responsibilities rather than waiting to be asked.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
This is part-time seasonal work during Hickory Ridge Orchard's July-through-November fall staffing period. The orchard publishes specific weekend shifts for its driver positions but does not list fixed shift times, a numeric wage, guaranteed weekly hours, or benefits for the Corn Maze & Jump Pillow assignment. Candidates should provide accurate weekend and fall availability and ask about orientation, the expected first and final work dates, break practices, weather closures, compensation, and any weekday field-trip work when contacted. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
How to apply
Complete the 2026 fall application embedded on the orchard's team page and choose the Corn Maze Tent & Jump Pillow area. Include reliable contact information, full fall availability, and examples of working safely with children, families, crowds, outdoor activities, or farm visitors.
