Gritt's Midway Greenhouse is hiring a part-time seasonal Retail Sales Associate for its Putnam County garden center near Eleanor. Welcome customers to a family-owned growing business and help them enjoy choosing plants for their homes and gardens. What you will do • Be a friendly, approachable point of contact for garden-center customers. • Help visitors with plant questions and share knowledge as you develop it. • Participate in hands-on retail work in greenhouse and outdoor settings. • Stay reliable and positive during energetic, sometimes busy periods. How the work fits together The nursery began in 1944 when Tony Gritt Jr. expanded a greenhouse originally built to start his vegetable crops. Neighbors wanted earlier starts too, and flowers followed. Three generations have developed the business into a grower of bedding plants, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetable starts, foliage plants, mums, and poinsettias. Its hydroponic operation also produces tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and herbs. The Red House garden center is open throughout the year, while seasonal market outlets connect the family with customers elsewhere in the Kanawha Valley. A team of approximately forty people supports production, wholesale distribution, and retail service. The company also supplies produce to nearby school systems.
