About this job

James Lake Farms is hiring Cranberry Harvest Warehouse Crew members in Three Lakes for the 2026 fall harvest. Help prepare fresh organic cranberries at a family-run marsh in northern Wisconsin. What you will do • Assist with cleaning cranberries in the packing house. • Sort fruit and pack it for the fresh market. • Sanitize sorting and cleaning equipment at the end of the day. • Follow direction and communicate with coworkers and management. How the work fits together John and Nora Stauner have owned the James Lake property since 2006. They later added the nearby Thunder Lake marsh and converted it to organic production. Some cranberry beds trace their origins to the 1940s, while newer plantings have expanded the range of varieties grown. Their son Ben and a longtime manager help lead the farm alongside a small year-round staff. Seasonal workers become an important part of the operation when the crop is ready. The family grows several varieties for fresh and frozen markets, making harvest the culmination of a full year's care for a perennial crop. Their children and grandchildren remain connected to the place. The packing-house crew contributes at the point where that field work becomes cleaned, sorted fruit ready to leave the farm. What the employer is looking for • Work productively with a diverse team and communicate clearly. • Be prepared to stand at a workstation for extended periods. • Lift at least fifty pounds occasionally and handle demanding harvest days. • Be available for ten-hour days, Monday through Saturday, for four to six weeks. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Starting pay is $20 hourly. The farm's harvest begins in late September and ends before Thanksgiving; confirm the specific packing-house assignment dates during hiring. Limited on-site housing is available without charge. Work requires readiness for varying weather and a busy six-day schedule. Ask about housing availability before making relocation plans. How to apply Download the employment application from the farm's contact page and email it to jlfcranberries@gmail.com, or bring it to the marsh at 1075 South Big Lake Loop. For questions, call 715-421-6510.
