CSA Delivery & Harvest Crew Member

Fifth Month Farm is hiring a part-time CSA Delivery & Harvest Crew Member. Combine a day of vegetable harvesting and packing in Mount Joy with a day delivering farm shares to Philadelphia. What you will do • Harvest, wash, sort, and pack vegetables on Wednesdays. • Load shares and market supplies for Thursday deliveries. • Deliver accurately to six Philadelphia pickup sites and communicate with site hosts. • Drop off produce and supplies for the Fairmount Farmers Market stand. How the work fits together Devin and Kristi Barto grow vegetables year-round on five acres leased at Cedar Hill Farm. Their backgrounds combine years of organic vegetable growing with baking, art, flowers, and plant care. The farm supplies CSA households, restaurants, and local food retailers, connecting its Lancaster County fields with customers farther afield. Growing methods emphasize cover crops, crop rotations, beneficial insects, and soil fertility without synthetic fertilizers or crop sprays. Greenhouses help extend the season beyond outdoor summer harvests. This position connects two sides of that operation: preparing food carefully on the farm and getting it to the people who have ordered it. It offers both collaborative work with the growers and independent responsibility on the delivery route. What the employer is looking for • Hold a valid driver's license and clean driving record. • Be comfortable navigating Philadelphia streets and highway routes. • Lift 40–50 pounds repeatedly and work outdoors in varied weather. • Be punctual, organized, and professional with customers and partners. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The seasonal role runs within May–January and generally totals 12–18 hours weekly. Farm and harvest work starts at $17/hour; delivery and market setup pay $20/hour. Wednesday is farm-based and Thursday involves travel to Philadelphia.
