About this job

Ballerina Farm is hiring a full-time Dairy and Ranch Hand in Kamas. Care for dairy cows, manage manure and compost, and keep farm equipment and infrastructure working. The salary range is $55,000–$60,000. What you will do β€’ Feed and monitor dairy cattle, reporting health or behavior concerns. β€’ Collect and move manure and maintain compost areas. β€’ Operate tractors, loaders, and irrigation equipment; identify maintenance needs. β€’ Repair fencing and farm areas, move supplies, and help prepare the farmstand. How the work fits together Hannah and Daniel Neeleman's family farm combines livestock, food production, and a creamery in the Kamas Valley. The dairy's design draws on a Danish barn they visited, with natural light and ventilation shaping the cattle's indoor environment. Cows graze when conditions permit and receive sheltered care during colder weather. Robotic milking works alongside hands-on animal care, while manure is composted for use in the gardens and greenhouses. Milk also supports the creamery's small-batch cheeses, ice cream, and yogurt. This role works within that connected farm system: feeding and observing animals, managing the materials they produce, and keeping the equipment and spaces around them dependable. It is practical agricultural work at the dairy, not a retail-store or marketing position. What the employer is looking for β€’ Bring experience with dairy-cow care, manure handling, and compost operations. β€’ Operate agricultural machinery safely and work reliably without constant supervision. β€’ Handle repetitive physical work and loads up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where needed. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Expect approximately 5½–6 workdays weekly, including partial weekends. Hours respond to animal care, weather, and seasonal demands. Work involves mud, dust, manure, uneven ground, and outdoor conditions. Paid time off and medical, dental, vision, and life-insurance benefits are offered. How to apply Apply for Dairy & Ranch Hand through the farm's hiring page. Upload a resume and provide your contact information and available start date. A cover letter is optional. Highlight dairy feeding, compost management, equipment operation, and practical maintenance experience.
