Extension Agriculture & 4-H Agent

New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service is hiring an Agriculture and 4-H Agent for De Baca County. Based in the county Extension office in Fort Sumner, this role builds research-based education for agricultural producers, young people, families, volunteers, and community partners throughout the county. What you will do • Lead adult and youth programs in agriculture, 4-H, family and consumer sciences, and community or economic development • Identify local needs and turn university research into practical workshops, demonstrations, resources, and consultations • Collaborate with schools, youth-serving organizations, agencies, and community groups to expand 4-H opportunities • Recruit, train, and support adult and youth volunteers • Help plan and deliver the annual county fair • Work with other county agents, state specialists, district leadership, and university administrators on coordinated programs • Promote Extension programs to traditional and new audiences and document participation and outcomes • Join research and outreach activities connected with the Center of Excellence in Food and Sustainable Agriculture Qualifications A master's degree in hand by the hire date is required, and at least one degree must be in agriculture or a related field. NMSU may underfill the role as Extension Associate I for an applicant with a qualifying bachelor's degree and at least a 2.5 GPA who completes a master's within five years. The selected agent must live in De Baca County, hold a valid driver's license, use a personal vehicle for reimbursed county travel, and be available for some evenings and weekends.
