About this job
Poppy's Pumpkin Patch is hiring for the Fall Tractor Train Driver position in Norfolk, NE. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Complete the tractor-train opening check, follow the assigned route and loading procedure, and operate only after the farm has approved the driver's age, license, training, and equipment authorization.
• Welcome riders, explain boarding and safety rules, confirm that passengers are seated as trained, watch the route and surrounding foot traffic, and stop or contact a lead when conditions are not safe.
• Keep the loading area and train orderly, communicate fuel, mechanical, weather, crowd, or route concerns immediately, and help with nearby farm setup, reset, guest direction, or closing work between runs.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Poppy's Pumpkin Patch, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Complete the tractor-train opening check, follow the assigned route and loading procedure, and operate only after the farm has approved the driver's age, license, training, and equipment authorization. Welcome riders, explain boarding and safety rules, confirm that passengers are seated as trained, watch the route and surrounding foot traffic, and stop or contact a lead when conditions are not safe. Keep the loading area and train orderly, communicate fuel, mechanical, weather, crowd, or route concerns immediately, and help with nearby farm setup, reset, guest direction, or closing work between runs.
What the employer is looking for
• A positive, upbeat attitude around families, responsible judgment, clear communication, and comfort remaining attentive during repeated outdoor driving and guest-loading cycles.
• Availability that matches the September 5 through November 1 season and ability to satisfy every driver-specific age, licensing, motor-vehicle, and training requirement described by Poppy's during hiring.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The 2026 fall festival runs September 5 through November 1 and is closed September 9 through 11. Public hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with the farm closed Monday and Tuesday. Employee shifts may include setup before opening and securing the train after closing. Poppy's advertises flexible scheduling but does not publish the wage, minimum weekly commitment, shift length, overtime treatment, or other benefits for train drivers. Confirm those terms and the exact driving rotation before accepting. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
