Fall Pumpkin Sales Associate
DeBuck's Family Farm

About this job
DeBuck's Family Farm is hiring for the Fall Pumpkin Sales Associate position in Belleville, MI. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Prepare and maintain the pumpkin sales area, keep pumpkins and related farm products presented neatly, and watch for damaged product, unsafe displays, low stock, or guest-flow problems.
• Help visitors select and purchase pumpkins, answer routine questions, handle the assigned checkout or transaction process accurately, and provide friendly service during busy festival periods.
• Assist with stocking, carrying, cleanup, signs, wagons, closing tasks, or other nearby fall-farm work when directed, while keeping pedestrian and vehicle routes clear.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At DeBuck's Family Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Prepare and maintain the pumpkin sales area, keep pumpkins and related farm products presented neatly, and watch for damaged product, unsafe displays, low stock, or guest-flow problems. Help visitors select and purchase pumpkins, answer routine questions, handle the assigned checkout or transaction process accurately, and provide friendly service during busy festival periods. Assist with stocking, carrying, cleanup, signs, wagons, closing tasks, or other nearby fall-farm work when directed, while keeping pedestrian and vehicle routes clear.
What the employer is looking for
• Applicants must be at least 15 for the overall fall team and must be willing to work weekends; a calm, outgoing manner, clear communication, reliability, and attention to customer and transaction details fit this position.
• Ability to remain active outdoors in changing fall weather, handle pumpkins and sales supplies within personal lifting capacity, work in a fast-moving guest environment, and follow instructions around traffic, equipment, and farm attractions.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
This is seasonal fall-festival work from September 12 through November 1, with most new employees needed in October. The farm cannot guarantee a set number of hours because staffing follows ticket sales. Weekend availability is required, and October festival shifts generally align with 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. operating hours. The application lists Pumpkin Sales at up to $16 per hour. Flexible scheduling is available, but applicants should provide complete availability for every weekday and weekend during the short season. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
