Farm Crew Member

Red Acre Farm is hiring full- and part-time crew members in Cedar City. Join a small diversified farm where vegetable production, livestock, the farm stand, and community meals all contribute to the working week. What you will do • Prepare beds, plant, irrigate, cultivate, trellis, and help manage crops. • Harvest and prepare produce for CSA shares, markets, and the farm stand. • Help feed animals, collect and wash eggs, clean pens, and maintain fencing. • Support events, customer service, setup, cleanup, and other farm needs. How the work fits together The Patterson family moved to Cedar City in 2005. Sara began growing vegetables and keeping hens as a child, then established a CSA with just four shares. Her mother, Symbria, joined the work full-time as the business developed, and her father helped build the farm's infrastructure. A neighboring acre, protected growing space, and a farm stand allowed the enterprise to expand without losing its household-scale roots. Today, the farm provides food throughout the year and welcomes neighbors for meals and gatherings. A commercial kitchen connects the harvest with prepared food and events. Sara and Symbria also founded Red Acre Center and the Utah Farm and Food Conference, extending their work into support for other small growers. Crew members participate in this combination of food production and community life. What the employer is looking for • Be ready for physical, varied work and cooperation with a small crew. • Have availability for the farm's harvest and market schedule, including early mornings. • Be comfortable moving between crop work, animal chores, and public-facing activities. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Schedules range from 10 to 40 hours weekly; some full-time days can be long. Pay depends on experience, with a two-week paid trial. Housing is not provided.
