About this job

Wright Brothers Farm is hiring part-time Farm Crew Members in Ferndale. Join a family vegetable operation preparing fresh crops for CSA customers and farmers markets. What you will do • Harvest vegetables including greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and broccoli. • Wash and pack produce for market and CSA distribution. • Care for the packing area, tools, and farm equipment. • Communicate changing needs and work cooperatively with the rest of the crew. How the work fits together Craig, Chris, and Mark Wright farm land with a long family history in Whatcom County. Their approach emphasizes the flavor of vegetables and varieties suited to the regional climate. Cover crops and compost support the soil, while growing decisions consider fertility and the needs of each crop. Hoop houses provide space for propagation and warm-season vegetables such as peppers and tomatoes. Protective row covers and drip irrigation are part of the production system. Early harvesting and prompt cooling help preserve freshness, with produce reaching customers soon after it is picked. The farm serves households through its CSA and sells at farmers markets in the wider Puget Sound region. Crew work connects these growing practices with the finished harvest: handling vegetables thoughtfully is important to preserving the quality achieved in the field. What the employer is looking for • Bring previous experience in farming or another part of the food system. • Be dependable, punctual, and able to work constructively with others. • Enjoy food and farming and be prepared for active outdoor work. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is part-time seasonal work with an advertised wage range of $18–$25 hourly. Fresh farm produce is included. The weekly schedule and exact seasonal dates should be discussed with the farm. Work includes both harvesting outside and handling produce in the packing area, so expect a physically active day. How to apply Email your resume to craig@wrightbrothersfarm.com. Explain what appeals to you about the Farm Crew position and why your experience would help you succeed. Include your available days, earliest start date, and any commitments affecting the rest of the season. Identify the farm-crew opening rather than the separate delivery position.
