About this job

Seed to Table Oregon is hiring part-time Farm Educators for hands-on school visits in Sisters. Lead small groups of K–12 students as they explore the farm, learn about growing food, and build a connection with the natural world. What you will do • Guide groups of approximately 10–12 students through farm lessons and exploration. • Use provided lesson plans and keep activities safe, engaging, and inclusive. • Coordinate availability and field-trip preparation with the Program Director. How the work fits together The farm's work links growing vegetables with making fresh food accessible across Central Oregon. Produce reaches households through seasonal shares, local retailers, the Sisters Farmers Market, and community food programs. Partnerships support free shares, food-bank distribution, senior meals, and school salad bars. This gives visiting students a working example of how a farm can serve its surrounding community. The education program takes place on a small four-acre farm, where food production and learning share the same setting. Educators help children explore that connection through direct experience, while welcoming the different cultures and food traditions that students bring to a visit. What the employer is looking for • Have one to two years of formal or informal K–12 teaching experience. • Know basic garden systems and ecology and feel comfortable leading children outdoors. • Arrange reliable transportation, pass a background check, and complete required training. • Be comfortable with email and Google Drive. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $23/hour with accrued sick time and paid training. Field trips run April–June and September–October. Each visit requires about three hours including preparation; schedules vary with bookings. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered. How to apply Email Hannah at education@seedtotablesisters.org with a cover letter, resume, and two or three references, including a supervisor. Use Farm Educator Position in the subject line. Explain your teaching experience and availability for the autumn program.
