Jacob's Farm

About this job
Jacob's Farm is hiring for the Farm Event Support Crew position in Traverse City, MI. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Set up tables, chairs, service stations, signs, barriers, supplies, and other approved equipment according to the event plan, checking placement and condition before guests arrive.
• Support safe movement of materials and supplies across the farm property, protect planted and public areas during setup, and communicate missing, damaged, late, or incorrectly placed items to the event lead.
• Tear down and return equipment after events, separate waste and reusable materials, leave guest and back-of-house areas orderly, and help the team reset the farm for the next operating day.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Jacob's Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Set up tables, chairs, service stations, signs, barriers, supplies, and other approved equipment according to the event plan, checking placement and condition before guests arrive. Support safe movement of materials and supplies across the farm property, protect planted and public areas during setup, and communicate missing, damaged, late, or incorrectly placed items to the event lead. Tear down and return equipment after events, separate waste and reusable materials, leave guest and back-of-house areas orderly, and help the team reset the farm for the next operating day.
What the employer is looking for
• Dependable availability for scheduled farm events, willingness to follow layouts and time-sensitive instructions, and a practical team approach when priorities change because of weather, guest count, or event timing.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, and work actively across indoor and outdoor farm spaces while protecting guests, coworkers, buildings, crops, landscaping, and event equipment.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
Jacob's Farm is hiring Event Support Staff for its 2026 operating season and invites applicants seeking either part- or full-time hours to complete its employment questionnaire. Event work includes setup before service and tear-down afterward, so shifts may fall outside public opening hours and may include evenings and weekends. The farm does not list a numeric wage, guaranteed weekly hours, fixed workdays, paid leave, housing, insurance, or other conventional benefits for this opening. Candidates should request the complete shift and compensation terms during the interview. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
How to apply
Complete Jacob's Farm 2026 Employment Questionnaire and select Event Support Staff or the setup-and-tear-down role where prompted. Include your full weekly availability and any relevant event, farm, warehouse, hospitality, or physical setup experience.
