About this job

The Manav Foundation, Our Table Cooperative's educational nonprofit, is hiring a Farm & Garden Educator in Sherwood. Develop and lead farm-based learning while caring for the teaching gardens and demonstration spaces at the cooperative's farm. What you will do • Plan and teach field trips, camps, tours, and other educational activities. • Develop curriculum, manage registrations and promotion, and coordinate seasonal staff or guest instructors. • Maintain learning gardens and work with schools, volunteers, and cooperative staff. How the work fits together Our Table farms fifty-eight acres about fifteen miles south of Portland. Vegetables, berries, apples, and pastured poultry form part of a landscape that also includes Rock Creek and a pond. Visitors can shop at the farm store, explore the flower garden, or participate in seasonal activities. The farm uses cover crops and compost, rotates plantings, and relies on cultivation and crop protection techniques suited to its growing system. These features provide a living setting for lessons about food, soil, and the natural world. The educator connects that working environment with programs for children and adults, making the farm's everyday processes approachable through practical experience. What the employer is looking for • Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a background in teaching or educational programs. • Bring hands-on gardening or farming skills and knowledge of sustainable practices. • Be organized, creative, communicative, and comfortable working independently. • Work outdoors in varied weather and handle the role's physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This year-round, hourly role averages a flexible and seasonally variable 10–20 hours weekly. Pay depends on experience. The position combines program planning and administration with teaching and practical garden work, with a start as soon as possible. How to apply Email the completed employment application and your resume to jobs@ourtable.us. Identify Farm & Garden Educator. Shortlisted candidates attend a farm visit or working interview at their own travel expense. The farm is at 13390 SW Morgan Road.
