Farm Operations Senior Lead

Bonton Farms is hiring a full-time Farm Operations Senior Lead at its Bexar farm. Lead hands-on crop production, coach farm staff and apprentices, and take responsibility for a growing site or major production function. What you will do • Turn production plans into daily crew assignments and coordinate planting, irrigation, harvest, and packing. • Maintain food-safety records, supervise safe equipment use, and address quality problems. • Mentor farm leads and apprentices; track training progress and operational results. • Coordinate supplies, equipment maintenance, distribution needs, and livestock work. How the work fits together Bonton Farms began as a garden in a small vacant lot and developed into two working urban farms in South Dallas. Growing food is part of a neighborhood-centered effort to improve access to opportunity, health, and economic stability. The organization connects its farms with a farmers market, cafe, coffeehouse, and wider community programs. Fresh produce moves from the growing areas into local food outlets, while residents and volunteers participate in the work. The Bexar Street campus anchors these activities within the neighborhood. Bonton also operates a wellness center and works alongside residents to address barriers beyond food access. A production leadership role therefore combines practical agriculture with a setting where learning, employment, and community participation are central to the farm's purpose. What the employer is looking for • Bring three to five years of relevant farming experience, including at least one year leading others. • Be proficient in at least three core production areas and comfortable with records, budgets, and equipment. • Have a valid driver's license and lift 50 pounds; English-Spanish bilingual ability is preferred. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $22–$25 hourly. Early mornings, weekends, holidays, and outdoor physical work may be required.
