About this job
Root Cause Farm is hiring a part-time Fundraising & Communications Manager to support its community-centered food-access work in Fairview. Starting November 2, 2026, this hybrid role will connect donors, volunteers, and neighbors with the farm through fundraising, storytelling, and events. The position reports to the Executive Director.
What you will do
⢠Build the annual fundraising plan, lead appeals and campaigns, and cultivate donor and sponsor relationships.
⢠Write grants, maintain donor records, and coordinate databases with the Assistant Farm Manager.
⢠Manage social channels, website content, monthly newsletters, and the annual report; support a volunteer social media coordinator when available.
⢠Plan community and fundraising events, including budgets and timelines, and prepare monthly board reports.
How the work fits together
Root Cause Farm grows organically raised produce and shares food through a network of local relationships. Its on-farm Share Markets offer neighbors a farmers-market-style experience without payment or income verification. The farm collaborates with other growers, home gardeners, food-access organizations, and the Food for Fairview pantry to bring more fresh food into the community. Communications and fundraising help sustain that work by connecting supporters with the people and growing spaces behind it. Events such as Fairview Farm Fridays and the annual fundraiser bring donors and volunteers into the farm's community. This role focuses on the relationships and resources that allow a small community farm to keep sharing its harvest.
What the employer is looking for
⢠Bring experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, or a related field.
⢠Have strong writing and communication skills; grant writing, donor relations, social media, and CRM experience are preferred.
⢠Be organized, self-directed, and motivated by community impact.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The position is fifteen to twenty hours weekly with a flexible hybrid schedule. Pay is $24.10ā$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include farm produce, paid federal holidays, and ten paid personal days annually.
How to apply
Email your cover letter and resume to hiring@rootcausefarm.org by October 4, 2026. Review the complete position description linked from the farm's employment page before applying.
