Nursery Field Technician

Pender Nursery is hiring a full-time Nursery Field Technician in Garner, with starting pay of $15 an hour. Help prepare plant orders and assist customers at an independently owned wholesale nursery growing a wide range of ornamental plants. What you will do • Select plants to match the sizes requested by the sales team and stage completed orders in holding areas. • Help walk-in customers choose plants, load vehicles, and secure plant material with tarps. • Suggest available substitutions and communicate clearly with customers, sales representatives, and managers. • Assist other teams when assigned by management. How the work fits together Pender grows container plants for garden centers and landscape professionals throughout North Carolina and neighboring states. Its inventory includes perennials, shrubs, trees, groundcovers, vines, and ornamental grasses. The nursery began beside Dow Pender's Raleigh home in 1945 and later moved to Garner. Jim and Kathy Deal became its owners after working with the Pender family, developing the property into a roughly seventy-acre nursery. Greenhouses, propagation, irrigation, inventory systems, and shipping are all parts of this local growing operation. Field technicians connect the plants on the nursery with the orders customers have placed. Matching plant sizes and organizing orders carefully supports both customer pickups and the sales staff's work, while direct customer assistance remains an important part of the position. What the employer is looking for • Communicate well and maintain a professional approach with customers and coworkers. • Be able to repeatedly lift thirty pounds and occasionally handle fifty pounds with assistance. • Have authorization to work in the United States and meet the position's physical requirements.
