Farm Crew Member - Pastured Livestock

Henny Penny Farm is hiring a year-round Farm Crew Member for its pastured-livestock operation in LaGrangeville. Work with sheep, chickens, turkeys, and pigs while supporting daily animal care and rotational grazing. This is an active, hands-on role for someone who already has farm and poultry experience. What you will do • Feed and water animals, observe their health, and help move sheep and electric net fencing. • Move poultry tractors, care for young birds, and clean brooders. • Load grain, clean equipment, complete general chores, and drive the pickup for butcher trips when needed. How the work fits together Whitney and her family have spent nearly fifteen years developing their approach to regenerative livestock farming. The farm achieved Tier 3 Regenified certification in 2025, bringing outside assessment and recordkeeping to its pasture and soil practices. Its animals are raised outdoors on pasture, with soil health treated as a foundation of the business. Lamb, poultry, pork, and other farm products reach customers through direct sales and markets in New York and Connecticut. The family also offers hands-on educational opportunities for children and adults. Crew work is part of this larger connection between careful animal husbandry, stewardship of the land, and food sold to local households who want to know how it was raised. What the employer is looking for • Have prior farm and poultry experience, strong observation skills, and attention to detail. • Bring a valid driver's license and comfort driving a pickup; tractor and maintenance skills are helpful. • Be ready to handle 50-pound feed bags and physical work around livestock. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Hourly pay is $20–$22, depending on experience. The role averages approximately 30 hours weekly throughout the year, spread over six days during peak periods and five days in winter. Work takes place at the farm on Clapp Hill Road.
