PL Only Organics

About this job
PL Only Organics, operated by Preserve 5 LLC, is hiring a full-time Farm Manager to lead a 50,000-square-foot certified-organic greenhouse in Douglasville, Georgia. The manager will supervise only two or three greenhouse workers and is expected to work beside them every day. This is a focused, boots-on-the-ground growing role for an experienced greenhouse vegetable producer, not a remote corporate-management position.
Crop planning and environmental control
β’ Plan and carry out complete growing cycles for a diverse mix of organic vegetables
β’ Build planting schedules that support dependable year-round harvest volume
β’ Monitor temperature, humidity, irrigation, fertigation, and lighting and adjust systems promptly
β’ Track crop development, inputs, losses, yields, and harvest timing in clear production records
β’ Diagnose plant-health or environmental problems and respond before they affect multiple crop cycles
The farm needs a grower who understands the relationship between environmental settings and plant performance. Successful management will require regular crop walks, careful interpretation of root-zone and canopy conditions, and disciplined follow-up after any adjustment. The manager should be able to balance biological needs with buyer commitments without hiding a crop problem or promising product the greenhouse cannot deliver.
Organic systems and compliance
The operation is certified organic. The Farm Manager will implement Integrated Pest Management compatible with that certification, select and document allowed inputs, and maintain spray logs, input records, and traceability files. They will also help prepare for the annual certification audit. Candidates should understand that organic compliance depends on complete records and repeatable procedures as much as it does on avoiding prohibited products.
Harvest, quality, and supply
The manager is accountable for steady harvests that meet wholesale and direct-distribution commitments. They will organize grading, packing, and post-harvest handling to preserve freshness and reduce loss; forecast volume for operations and sales; and identify potential supply gaps early. When a pest event, environmental failure, or uneven planting creates risk, the manager should propose a practical recovery plan and communicate what buyers can realistically expect.
Small-team leadership
This role assigns daily work, coordinates schedules with harvest windows, trains the two- or three-person greenhouse crew, and monitors both productivity and safety. The manager should set a useful pace while demonstrating careful technique. They will remain physically involved in planting, crop care, harvest, and greenhouse upkeep and must be able to stand for long periods and lift during normal manual work.
Qualifications
Applicants need three to five years of hands-on commercial greenhouse vegetable experience and demonstrated agricultural or horticultural team leadership. Strong knowledge of organic inputs, soil health, IPM, controlled-environment systems, crop scheduling, and yield consistency is required. Accurate records, clear communication, practical troubleshooting, and the ability to meet supply commitments are central to the position.
Compensation and application
The published salary is $65,000β$80,000 per year. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plus paid time off. Applicants should use the employer's direct CareerPlug application and be prepared to discuss crop cycles they have managed, greenhouse-control systems, organic audits, IPM decisions, crew leadership, yield records, post-harvest quality, and how they recovered from a serious production problem. Confirm benefit eligibility, schedule expectations, and the intended start date during the interview.
